THEME: SHAPING A JUST, PEACEFUL AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
Creative poster making "2040" The World of the Future
As part of Global Education Week, grade XII.B carried out a creative group task in which students created posters on the theme "2040 – The World of the Future." Students worked in groups of 4–5, thinking together about how they imagine a sustainable, peaceful and just future.
During the workshop, students freely chose areas to work on (e.g. environmental protection, green energy, transport, health, technological development or social equality). The groups created extremely creative, visually appealing posters that included innovative ideas, positive future visions and their own slogans.
The activity developed students' collaboration skills, communication, visual expression and strengthened thinking about sustainability. Students worked enthusiastically and enjoyed presenting their finished work to each other.
Overall, the task successfully contributed to the goals of Global Education Week and provided a valuable, inspiring learning experience for grade XII.B. (Turoczi Andrea, form teacher, biology teacher)
Conscious shopping habits
Grade IX.A conducted a survey on the topic of conscious shopping. The aim of the survey was to provide a comprehensive picture of how healthy, environmentally conscious and how supportive of the local / Székely economy and commerce our shopping habits are.
1. In the first phase of the survey, we made videos about the shopping basket and interviewed shoppers about their habits.
2. In the second part of the survey, we asked questions to students and had them fill out questionnaires.
Conclusion based on graphs:
- there is some awareness in our shopping habits (regarding overbuying, eco-friendly packaging and selective waste collection, >50%).
- we have major deficiencies regarding food ingredients (E-numbers, additives, preservatives, flavour enhancers). Furthermore, we have deficiencies in the relatively low conscious purchasing of local products;
- analysis of receipts made it clear that in local small shops we can buy/buy more local products.
So, if you want to support the local economy/commerce, shop in small shops or from local producers, not in large chain stores! Local, correctly, environmentally consciously! (Deme Ildikó, form teacher, English teacher)
Our everyday heroes
following the slogan, grade XII.C students worked in small groups and created short presentations about a hero of their choice. These were shared with classmates during the lesson. The heroes came from all areas of life, from Arnold Schwarzenegger to mothers. The aim of the research and presentations was to awaken in us the desire to become everyday heroes, even through small deeds, if we persist in our principles and ideas. (Bajka Kinga, English teacher)
Who is a hero to me?
answering this question, grade X.A prepared a mini-essay in advance, which they presented to each other.
We studied whether the hero can be from our personal, familial relationship or must be a cult figure? For fourteen students, a relative is the hero – through daily sacrifice, selfless and renouncing attitude, admonition. Here, out of 24 girls, 12 have a very strong maternal image. Some chose international cult figures: here the image created by the media dominates. Interestingly, the global worldview overrides national character.
For a peaceful future
Grade X.B students created PPT presentations during Global Education Week about people who work for peace. Thus, a PPT presentation was made about Brother Csaba Böjte, founder of the Saint Francis Foundation in Deva. The presentation was made by Géza Tímea, the photos were taken by Donáth Kitty Viktória.
Fejér Tamás: presented Malala Yousafzai. Malala is a Pakistani girl who fights for girls' education and peace as a human rights activist, far from her homeland in Great Britain. In 2014, at age 17, she became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate! Photos from the presentation were taken by Kosztándi Kriszta.
Kerekes Zsuzsanna and Szőcs Helga created presentations about Viktor Orbán, President of Hungary; photos were taken by Zsigmond Nóra and Zsigmond Szófia Zita. Their work was presented in all classes. (Pál-Varga Ilona, form teacher, history teacher)
Hymn for Peace
Within the theme "Sounds of Peace, song for togetherness," together with grades IX.A and IX.B, we worked on the song "Hymn for Peace," written by Forenszki Róbert in 1984 for the peace song competition. Within the framework of Global Education Week, we learned it and then performed it in the schoolyard. (Gligor Zoltán, music teacher)
Dance for Peace
To the melody of the Hebrew song "Hevenu Shalom Aleichem" – "We have brought you peace," which has been translated into various languages, the entire school community danced together under the guidance of Tuzson Erika Tünde, dance teacher. The goal was community experience, interculturality, mutual acceptance and blessing.
